Interview with Actress Fala Chen

In the lead-up to the release of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings—the first Asian superhero film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe—Babel Film Workshop is honored to be interviewing one of its cast members, Fala Chen, who will portray Jiang Li in the film.

The interview will be conducted in May by Jeremy Hung (founder of Babel Film Workshop) via Zoom, and be recorded and shared exclusively with our students and schools community.

Topics will include Ms. Chen’s career path that began in Hong Kong, her education in the United States, and her professional acting experience.

Ms. Chen is also open to answering other questions students may have, and we’re now inviting students to submit questions for the interview.

Fala Chen

Fala Chen is a Chinese-American film, TV, and stage actress. She was born and raised in Sichuan, China, and emigrated to Georgia, United States when she was 14. While studying at Emory University’s business school, she won 1st runner-up at a beauty pageant in Hong Kong, kicking off her career. In Hong Kong, she is best known for her roles in multiple TVB drama series, and has also been nominated for Best New Performer at the Hong Kong Film Awards. Chen then pursued a master’s degree in acting at Juilliard School. Her first short film as a writer, director, and actor was a finalist at the Sundance Film Festival in Hong Kong. Upon graduation, she was cast in HBO’s The Undoing and in Disney Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Submit Questions

Primary and secondary students based in Hong Kong are invited to submit questions to be included in our interview with Ms. Chen. You can submit questions on any topic you’re curious about, even if it’s not about Ms. Chen’s acting career. However, due to confidentiality issues, she will not be able to address details of her upcoming projects.

While the interview will be conducted in English, you can also submit questions to be asked in Cantonese or Mandarin.

If your question is selected, you will be asked to record a video of yourself asking the question to be screened for Ms. Chen during our interview. We encourage you to research and learn more about Ms. Chen online before submitting your questions.
