Casting: Disney Launchpad Korean-American Short Film ("The Ghost")
Project Description: Disney short film.
Story: A rebellious 12-year-old, Clarice, must team up with her older sister, Naomi, to stop a powerful ghost from taking away their family before they’re torn apart forever.
Roles:
Clarice Chung (12, Female, Korean American): Lead role. Clarice is a smart, independent girl with a love for hockey and mind of her own. She struggles to connect positively with her family, particularly her older sister, Naomi, and harbors a lot of anger, resentment and shame about the fact that she can’t seem to get along well with her family, and often feels left out when they have conversations in Korean that she can't understand. When Clarice and her sister encounter a ghost, Elena, Clarice gains a newfound appreciation for her family and what she has. Competitive athletic experience a plus.
Naomi (17, Female, Korean American): Supporting role. Out-spoken, determined, and strong. Naomi is Clarice’s seemingly perfect older sister with effortlessly fashionable style who's about to leave home for art school. As the eldest daughter, Naomi undertakes the tough responsibility of taking care of her family while her mother works night shifts as a bus driver. As a result, she sometimes has to tell her little sister what to do, which rubs Clarice the wrong way. Naomi cares deeply for her family and her little sister, but struggles to understand Clarice, which leads to a lot of sibling spats. When she and Clarice encounter Elena, she will do whatever she can to save her family. Must speak proficient to fluent Korean.
Elena (8, Female, Mexican American): Supporting role. Elena unexpectedly passed away after a fight with her own parents, and ever since she died, she’s been searching for belonging and a home to call her own. As a ghost, Elena witnesses Clarice fight with her family, and decides to take them away for her own. But after going head-to-head with Clarice, Elena finally gets the closure she needs.
