High School Students Gain Internship Experience on Short Film Set

High school students in Hong Kong can gain professional experience in film production through Babel Film Workshop.

For high school students who are passionate about film and media, gaining experience on a professional short film set can be an incredible opportunity. Not only does it provide a hands-on film production training experience, but students also get to meet others who share their interests, and network with professionals to make connections that can benefit their future careers.

Over the Easter holiday, six high school students from Hong Kong International School, King George V School, and West Island School were invited to crew on a local short film production led by Babel Film Workshop founder Jeremy Hung.

It was very cool being on a real film set and meeting lots of cool people.

These students worked alongside professionals as Production Assistants over a three-day shoot, and gained experience in a variety of departments including directing, camera, crafty, as well as acting as extras in a number of shots.

β€œIt was definitely very cool being on a real film set and meeting lots of cool people,” said Norawee Kaweepati, a film student at King George V School.

By working on a professional short film set, these students also saw firsthand what it takes to produce a professional-quality film, and the challenges that come with it.

This also provides them with insight on what to expect when it comes to pursuing a career in the industry, and what to expect when they prepare for their own film productions.
