Film Stylo 2021: Student Films Shortlist

When schools in Hong Kong closed in 2021, over 50 students took the opportunity to create personal films for our Film Stylo 2021 initiative, based on the theme “Adapting to Uncertainty.

Through thoughtful juxtaposition of images and voiceover narration, students’ films addressed their emotional wellbeing and resilience, often conveying uplifting messages in the face of unprecedented challenges. Collectively, they demonstrate how the film medium can give voice to youth in a meaningful way.

Out of all entries, the Babel Film Workshop team have shortlisted 23 student films to be showcased at our Film Stylo 2021 screening on June 11th, 2022. Student films were judged and shortlisted based on the following criteria:

  • Personal voice

  • Treatment of theme

  • Creative and technical execution

From the shortlisted films, a further Top 5 films will be announced at our screening event, which will be held at our Wong Chuk Hang studio for student filmmakers and their guests. Below is the full list of students whose films have been shortlisted. Thanks to all students for sharing their creative work!
